QUAD SKATE WHEELS

Wheels are one of the most important components of a roller skate– they allow your skate to roll! Quad skates have a 2 x 2 setup with two wheels on the front near your toes and two wheels on the back near your heel. Wheels are typically made from polyurethane material, but they differ in hardness (also called durometer) and diameter (usually listed as a size in millimeters). The lower the durometer, the softer the wheel. Outdoor wheels are softer and have a lower durometer and are more grippy so they can take bumps or cracks in the sidewalk with ease. Indoor wheels are harder and have a higher durometer meant to roll over smooth surfaces like a rink. The size of a wheel affects the maneuverability and speed. The hub material can also affect the strength and life of the wheel.
